The intricacies of acrylic work for a novice artist

In the artistic environment, more and more brush masters are trying to work with acrylic paints. Like oil or watercolor, acrylic has its own properties, and therefore a slightly different technique of applying to canvas. Professionals know secrets, but do not like to disclose them. But what about a novice artist? Do not despair: this article will help to draw the first paintings with acrylic perfectly.
Secret 1. Drying Acrylic
You probably have not only heard about this, but you yourself learned by trying to draw with acrylic paint. Normal water helps to avoid quick drying. Some lightly moisten the canvas before starting work, others paint on the palette with water, others soak the brushes at night so that they absorb water in the process of creating the painting. Choose the method that is most convenient for you.

Secret 2. Acrylic Rainbow
Artists drew attention to the fact that after complete drying, acrylic paints become dull – and the color of the painting changes. Here layering comes to the rescue. Do not be afraid to experiment: think and draw in volume.

Secret 3. Relive the acrylic landscape
A newcomer to painting acrylic on canvas can look dull. Revive the picture helps spatula, which confident strokes applied acrylic.

Secret 4. No acrylic without white
White paint is used as the basis for the canvas, unless, of course, a dark background is assumed. Then the acrylic paintings are more saturated. Remember that light acrylic paint is not able to overlap black or dark blue, dark brown. In this case, you can not do without whitewash.

Secret 5. Acrylic does not tolerate tenderness
To paint with acrylic you will need solid brushes. They hold paint better and serve longer. Brushes can be of different sizes. In the acrylic painting technique, wide brushes are popular – they easily make strokes and the main background.

Secret 6. Acrylic needs protection
Most likely, you know that acrylic on canvas can be completely varnished. This will give the picture a glossy shade and make it durable. And that the artist himself needs to “resist” acrylic – few people think about it. Meanwhile, working on the creation of his masterpiece without gloves and an apron, the master can be very dirty with paint. Acrylic is quite “corrosive” and, having dried on fingers or a shirt, does not quickly wash off.

Secret 7. Nature + acrylic = harmony
What paintings are best painted with acrylic paints? Landscapes, flowers, still lifes and, of course, impressionistic sketches are excellent. Subject to certain rules, paintings painted with acrylic are not inferior in beauty to those made in oil.
