Paintings on the leaves: painstaking art
Nowadays, it is becoming increasingly difficult to surprise the viewer. Therefore, artists, artists, directors and other representatives of the creative professions have to go to various tricks, master new techniques, work with non-standard tools and materials. For example, a relatively new direction in the visual arts was born relatively recently – painting on the leaves of trees.
Recently patented direction – in the nineties of the last century in China. However, it cannot be called innovative, since the technique of carving pictures on pieces of paper has been known for many centuries. But the complexity of working with tree leaves is much more complicated. The artist must simultaneously be a jeweler, surgeon and tattoo master. Not to mention that the process of preparing material for work takes almost a year.
Another factor accompanying the emergence of this trend in China was territorial. The fact is that for applying the image, leaves of plane trees are best suited, plants that are found only in India, Pakistan and China. The leaves resemble maple leaves in shape, but they are more durable, and are able to maintain their shape for many years and not crumble.
Huang Tai Shang is considered the father of the art of transferring the image to the leaves of trees. For his innovative idea, the artist received not only worldwide recognition, but also earned a well-deserved place in the Guinness Book of Records.
The process of creating paintings from leaves
Leaves of plane trees are collected exclusively in the fall. They must be in perfect shape, solid, without signs of damage from insect bites. Selected foxes are placed in a dark room for 10 months. Then they are dipped in boiling water for several minutes to kill fungi and microbes. This measure helps preserve the material for many years.
First you need to prepare the “future canvas”. To do this, the sheet must be cleaned. At the same time, its thickness decreases by about half, becoming almost transparent.
